Kitara Football Club has officially confirmed the return of Mr Kasozi Deo as Club President, marking a renewed chapter in the Hoima-based team’s leadership and strategic direction. The announcement was made this afternoon at a press briefing held at the Grand Imperial Hotel in Kampala.

Former Club President and current Executive Member, Mr Dennis Musinguzi, who presided over the briefing, revealed that the executive committee unanimously agreed on reinstating Kasozi to ensure the smooth operations and long-term stability of the club.

“After internal consultations, the executive found it necessary to appoint a substantive president who understands Kitara’s vision and can steer the club towards sustainability,” Musinguzi stated.

Taking the podium for his maiden speech since reassuming office, Kasozi expressed deep gratitude to the executive and fans, outlining his immediate focus on ensuring the team’s sustainability, both financially and structurally.

“Our goal is to strengthen the foundations that make Kitara a competitive and community-rooted club,” he said, emphasizing discipline, accountability, and partnership as key drivers for his second tenure.

Kasozi previously stepped down in June after serving three transformative years as president. During his leadership, Kitara FC achieved significant milestones, including winning the FUFA Big League, earning promotion to the Uganda Premier League, and clinching the Stanbic Uganda Cup—a historic feat that positioned the team among the country’s top football clubs.

Following his resignation, ASP Gilbert Nyaika, who also serves as the Club’s Vice President for Administration, was appointed as Interim President. Nyaika is credited with bridging the leadership gap and guiding Kitara through a steady start in the ongoing 2025/2026 season.

The new executive team under Kasozi’s leadership brings together a blend of seasoned administrators and strategic thinkers. Hon. Brian Kaboyo will serve as First Vice President, Nyaika Gilbert as Vice President for Administration, Bernard Kanyoro as Vice President for Finance, Godfrey Bamwenda as Vice President for Fans Mobilisation, and Bernard Isoke as Vice President for Technical Affairs. Dennis Musinguzi remains on the Executive Committee, while Eng. Jonard Asiimwe continues as the Club Patron.

The day-to-day operations will be managed by Mr Joshua Atugonza, the Club’s CEO, who heads the Secretariat and sits on the Management Committee alongside several working committees that ensure proper coordination between the club’s departments.

In a related development, Kitara FC this week secured a 100 million shilling shirt sponsorship from Kinyara Sugar Ltd, adding to the club’s growing portfolio of corporate partnerships. Notably, Kinyara Sugar Ltd and Jonard Conglomerate were among the major sponsors Kasozi had previously brought on board during his earlier presidency.

With the return of Kasozi Deo and renewed financial backing, Kitara FC is poised to reinforce its ambitions in the Uganda Premier League, aiming to maintain its status as one of the country’s most competitive and professionally managed football clubs.
