Ugandan artist Joshua Baraka, in partnership with Pearl Bank Uganda, spearheaded the ‘Just Believe Day’ outreach held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, in Kawempe, with a focus on supporting vulnerable communities.
The initiative, hosted in the densely populated areas of Bwaise within Kawempe, brought together community members, youth, and local leaders in a coordinated effort aimed at addressing immediate socio-economic challenges while fostering long-term empowerment.
At the heart of the outreach was the distribution of essential relief packages to approximately 1,000 families, targeting households facing economic hardship. The intervention is part of a broader vision to not only provide short-term support but also inspire hope, resilience, and opportunity among residents, particularly young people navigating limited economic prospects.
Pearl Bank Uganda, whose institutional purpose centers on fostering prosperity for Ugandans, extended both financial and logistical support to the initiative. The bank positioned its involvement within its Corporate Social Investment framework, particularly under its humanitarian pillar.

She added that humanitarian outreach remains a key channel through which the bank delivers measurable impact in communities where it operates.
The outreach also reflects a growing trend of collaboration between the private sector and creative industry players in driving grassroots social change. By leveraging influence and institutional support, such partnerships are increasingly addressing gaps in social protection systems, especially in urban informal settlements.

Baraka also congratulated the bank on its recent milestone of relocating to its new head office located on Roscoe Road, off the Lugogo Bypass, describing it as a sign of institutional growth and continued commitment to serving Ugandans.
The ‘Just Believe Day’ outreach underscores the role of youth-led initiatives in shaping inclusive development narratives in Uganda. As urban communities continue to grapple with rising living costs and unemployment, such interventions provide both immediate relief and a platform for long-term engagement and empowerment.
