Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), the nation’s primary revenue collection agency, has officially announced a large-scale recruitment exercise, calling upon Ugandans with integrity, innovation, and resilience to apply for over 90 job opportunities across its key departments. The call comes as the Authority looks to reinforce its mission of enhancing tax administration and service delivery in alignment with the country’s development agenda.
The recruitment drive, launched under the theme “Developing Uganda Together,” spans technical, administrative, and support roles. The announcement was made public on URA’s official website and circulated across leading media outlets and online platforms.
According to the external advertisement issued by the Authority, applications are strictly online and must be submitted no later than 10:59 PM on August 16, 2025. The Authority emphasized that only candidates who meet the required qualifications and submit genuine documentation will be considered.
Key Opportunities: IT, Administration, and Support Services
The open positions are spread across two critical departments: Information Technology and Innovations and Corporate Services. A total of five job titles are listed, with 95 vacancies available.
The positions include:
Assistant Commissioner, IT Security – 1 position
Administrative Officer (Re-advertised) – 29 positions
Office Assistant (Re-advertised) – 34 positions
Fleet Assistant (Re-advertised) – 31 positions
The IT Security role, stationed at the senior management level, will require a high-level technical and strategic leader capable of overseeing the Authority’s cybersecurity infrastructure, responding to threats, and ensuring digital integrity across systems. This comes amid URA’s shift to more digitized tax collection and service systems.
Meanwhile, the 94 positions in the Corporate Services Department are primarily focused on administrative support, office management, and fleet operations—vital cogs in URA’s national framework.
Re-advertised Positions: A Second Chance for Previous Applicants
URA clarified that the positions of Administrative Officer, Office Assistant, and Fleet Assistant are re-advertisements. Candidates who had previously applied during the recruitment window between August 22 and September 10, 2024, are encouraged to re-apply if they are still interested.
The re-advertisement suggests either a lack of successful applications meeting the prior criteria or a strategy to expand the talent pool. In either case, it presents a renewed opportunity for qualified candidates to pursue meaningful public service careers.
Strict Qualifications and Eligibility Guidelines
In a firm tone, URA has outlined several eligibility requirements and disqualifying factors. According to the official notice:
1. All applicants must scan and attach relevant academic documents, including O’level, A’level, transcripts, degree or diploma certificates, and any additional training relevant to the job.
2. Qualifications not attached will not be considered, and background verification will be conducted.
3. Applicants presenting forged documents will face criminal charges in accordance with Ugandan law.
4. Falsified information at any stage of the recruitment process will lead to immediate disqualification.
5. Degree holders are not permitted to apply for Fleet Assistant and Office Assistant positions. The minimum qualification for these roles is a Uganda Certificate of Education, while the maximum is a diploma.
6. Lobbying or seeking favoritism will lead to automatic disqualification.

In the event of technical difficulty or incomplete applications, the portal allows applicants to resume at their convenience, provided the deadline has not passed.
URA has further capped applications at two job positions per applicant, encouraging focused and well-targeted applications.

Background: URA’s Role and Human Capital Needs
Established as a semi-autonomous body under the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Uganda Revenue Authority is tasked with assessing, collecting, and accounting for the government’s tax and non-tax revenue. The agency also provides key advisory roles in fiscal policy, economic modeling, and digital tax systems.
Over the years, URA has steadily increased its reliance on technology, e-services, and public engagement strategies, calling for a new generation of agile professionals with digital proficiency and public service ethics.
This latest recruitment drive mirrors URA’s vision of building an efficient, people-driven, and transparent tax administration system capable of supporting Uganda’s growing economic and infrastructural needs.
Expert Commentary: More Than Just Jobs
According to economic analyst Brian Kakande, URA’s targeted recruitment in IT and administrative sectors signals more than just employment. “The Authority is investing in systems and people who will redefine revenue collection in Uganda. These are not just jobs—they are pillars for national growth,” he said.

URA’s appeal to applicants to approach the process truthfully and professionally highlights both the value of public trust and the personal reward of working in public administration. With government service gaining traction among youth and professionals seeking job security, training, and meaningful impact, the URA opportunity comes at a pivotal moment.
As the deadline of August 16, 2025 nears, job seekers are advised to prepare their documents early, ensure accuracy, and submit applications only via the official platform. URA has emphasized that it does not charge any money at any point in the recruitment process, cautioning the public to beware of fraudsters.
