The nine day international business and investment event is scheduled for 3 to 11 November 2026 and is expected to bring together agricultural producers, exporters, investors, technology providers, government representatives and other industry stakeholders from Africa and international markets.

The conference is designed to create opportunities for businesses involved in agriculture and agro processing to establish commercial partnerships, access new markets, explore technology solutions and attract investment.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

– Event: Global Agro Food and Technologies Gateway Conference 2026.

– Venue: Istanbul, Türkiye.

– Dates: 3 to 11 November 2026.

– Duration: Nine days.

– Participants: Producers, exporters, investors, technology providers, government representatives and industry leaders.

– Key focus: Agro food, agricultural technology, mechanisation, irrigation, processing, animal production and international trade.

– Expected outcomes: Export contracts, technology partnerships, investment deals, buyer connections and new market opportunities.

– Uganda’s opportunity: International market access for products including coffee, tea, fish, dairy and fresh produce.

Uganda’s agro industry seeks global connections

Uganda’s participation in the conference comes at a time when the country is seeking to increase agricultural productivity, strengthen value addition and expand its presence in international markets.

The event will provide a platform for Ugandan agro based businesses to engage directly with potential buyers, investors and technology providers from Türkiye, Europe and the Middle East.

According to information provided about the conference, the initiative is designed to connect African agro based businesses with international commercial and technology partners.

“The Global Agro Food and Technologies Gateway Conference is an international trade, investment and technology platform connecting African agro based businesses with buyers, investors, technology providers and industry leaders from Turkey, Europe and the Middle East,” organisers said.

The platform is expected to create opportunities beyond conventional agricultural exports by linking producers and businesses to technologies that can improve production, processing, storage, packaging and distribution.

Agriculture technology takes centre stage

A broad range of agricultural technologies and products will feature during the conference.

These include:

– Tractors and agricultural machinery.

– Harvesters and mechanisation equipment.

– Greenhouse technologies.

– Water and irrigation systems.

– Viticulture and winery technologies.

– Agrochemicals and fertilisers.

– Seeds and gardening technologies.

– Animal husbandry technologies.

– Animal production machinery.

– Food processing and related agricultural technologies.

For Ugandan businesses, exposure to these technologies could provide opportunities to modernise production systems and improve efficiency across agricultural value chains.

The adoption of appropriate mechanisation and irrigation technologies could also help address some of the productivity challenges faced by farmers, particularly where production remains highly dependent on rainfall and manual labour.

Nine days of business, technology and industrial exposure

The conference programme is expected to run for nine days, with activities structured around business engagement, technology exposure and industrial learning.

The first two days will focus on keynote speeches, panel discussions, market intelligence and business matchmaking.

The following three days will feature product showcases, buyer meetings and additional matchmaking sessions, giving participating businesses an opportunity to demonstrate their products and establish commercial relationships.

The final three days will involve industrial visits, including factory tours, technology demonstrations and visits to logistics hubs.

This structure is intended to move participants beyond conference discussions into practical exposure to production systems, technologies and international supply chains.

Why Istanbul?

Türkiye has been selected as the host location because of its strategic geographical position linking Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

The country also has significant manufacturing capacity, an established export ecosystem and developed logistics infrastructure.

For African agricultural businesses, Istanbul provides a potential gateway to multiple international markets while offering access to manufacturers and technology providers.

The combination of manufacturing, logistics and international trade infrastructure is expected to make the conference particularly relevant to businesses seeking to expand beyond domestic and regional markets.

Uganda’s export opportunity

One of the major opportunities for Uganda will be increased access to international buyers for agricultural and agro processed products.

Uganda is already known internationally for commodities such as coffee, tea, fish, dairy products and fresh produce, but increasing export earnings will depend on strengthening quality, value addition, packaging, certification and market access.

Participation in an international platform of this nature could help exporters identify new buyers and distribution channels while building relationships with companies seeking reliable agricultural suppliers.

The opportunity is particularly significant for businesses seeking to move from exporting raw commodities towards higher value processed products.

From agricultural production to value addition

The conference could also support Uganda’s broader industrialisation agenda by exposing agro processors to technologies and investment opportunities across the agricultural value chain.

Instead of focusing only on primary production, businesses can explore technologies for processing, cold storage, packaging, irrigation, mechanisation and logistics.

Such investments could help reduce post harvest losses, improve product quality and increase the value retained within Uganda.

Greater value addition could also create employment opportunities and strengthen linkages between farmers, processors, transporters, exporters and international buyers.

Expected business outcomes

Organisers expect the conference to generate practical commercial outcomes rather than simply provide a networking platform.

The anticipated outcomes include:

– Export contracts between African producers and international buyers.

– Technology partnerships between businesses and technology providers.

– Investment agreements.

– New buyer and distributor connections.

– Knowledge exchange and technical partnerships.

– Access to new international markets.

– Improved agricultural productivity.

– Increased financing for agro based businesses.

– Expanded distribution networks.

– Greater competitiveness of African agricultural products.

– Sustainable growth in international trade.

For Ugandan businesses, the value of the conference will ultimately depend on their ability to convert contacts and discussions into actual contracts, investments and long term partnerships.

Opportunities for investors and technology providers

The conference is also expected to attract companies looking for investment opportunities in Africa’s growing agricultural and food sectors.

Uganda’s expanding agricultural economy presents opportunities in areas such as agro processing, agricultural machinery, irrigation, cold chain systems, food packaging, storage, animal production and renewable energy solutions for agriculture.

Technology providers can similarly find potential markets among farmers, cooperatives, agro processors and commercial agricultural enterprises seeking to modernise their operations.
