FAMReports News Desk | September, 2026

The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) is set to hold its 2026 Annual Members Meeting on September 24 in Kampala, bringing together invited stakeholders and members to review the Fund’s financial performance, investments, governance and strategic priorities for the financial year ended June 30, 2026.

The meeting is expected to provide members and the wider public with updates on NSSF’s performance, audited financial results, future priorities and the annual interest rate declaration.

What You Need to Know

The Annual Members Meeting is an important platform through which NSSF presents its performance and engages members and stakeholders on the management of their social security savings.

During the 2026 meeting, the Fund is expected to present its financial results for the financial year 2025/2026, alongside updates on investments, governance and its strategic direction.

The event will be broadcast nationally and hosted through NSSF’s online platforms, while physical attendance will be limited to invited stakeholders.

Financial Performance and Accountability

A key component of the meeting will be the presentation of NSSF’s audited financial results for the year ended June 30, 2026.

Members are expected to receive information on the Fund’s financial performance, investment activities and overall outlook.

The meeting will also provide an opportunity for NSSF leadership to explain strategic priorities and future plans as the Fund continues to manage members’ savings.

The Auditor General’s opinion on the financial report for the year ended June 30, 2026, is also expected to be presented.

Annual Interest Rate Declaration

The meeting will also feature the declaration of the annual interest rate for members’ savings.

The interest rate is a key issue for NSSF members because it determines how members’ savings are credited for the financial year.

The declaration is expected to form part of the financial and performance communication delivered during the meeting.

Key Presentations

According to information contained in the notice to stakeholders, the programme will include several major presentations and statements.

These are expected to include:

Auditor General’s Opinion: Presentation of the Auditor General’s opinion on NSSF’s financial report for the year ended June 30, 2026.

Managing Director’s Report: A report covering NSSF’s performance during the 2025/2026 financial year and the Fund’s outlook.

Chairman’s Communication: A statement from the Chairman of the NSSF Board of Directors.

Ministerial Statement: A statement from the Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development.

Interest Rate Declaration: Declaration of the annual interest rate by the Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development.

Nationwide Broadcast and Online Access

NSSF says the Annual Members Meeting will be accessible to a wider audience through television and the Fund’s online platforms.

According to Corporation Secretary Agnes Tibayeita Isharaza, physical attendance will be reserved for invited stakeholders, while members and other interested audiences will be able to follow the proceedings through the broadcast and online platforms.

“Please note that the annual members meeting will be telecast nationwide and hosted on the NSSF online platforms. Physical attendance will be for the invited stakeholders,” Isharaza said in a notice.

She added that the 2025/2026 annual report would be published on the NSSF website immediately after the meeting for members to access.

Stakeholders Expected to Participate

The meeting is expected to attract a range of stakeholders, including economists, policymakers, media representatives and invited NSSF members.

While invited stakeholders will attend physically, the wider membership and public will have access through the planned television broadcast and NSSF’s digital platforms.

The arrangement is intended to broaden access to information about the Fund’s performance and activities.

Transparency and Accountability

The Annual Members Meeting comes as NSSF continues to emphasise transparency, accountability and member engagement.

The Fund’s leadership is expected to use the meeting to provide information on how members’ savings have been managed, the Fund’s investment performance and its priorities for the coming period.

Publication of the annual report following the meeting will also provide members with access to detailed information on the Fund’s financial position and performance.

Why It Matters

NSSF manages retirement savings for workers and other eligible members, making its financial performance and investment decisions significant to members whose future benefits depend on the growth and management of their savings.

The Annual Members Meeting provides a formal platform for communicating financial results, investment performance, governance information and strategic priorities.

The declaration of the annual interest rate will also be closely followed by members because of its direct relevance to the growth of their accumulated savings.

What Happens Next

The 2026 Annual Members Meeting is scheduled for September 24, 2026, in Kampala.

Following the meeting, NSSF is expected to publish its 2025/2026 Annual Report on its website, allowing members to access detailed information on the Fund’s performance and financial position.

The meeting will also provide further information on NSSF’s priorities and outlook for the coming financial year.
