The National Entrepreneurs and Traders Association (NETA) has announced plans to award scholarships and bursaries to needy learners across Uganda in a move aimed at improving access to education and supporting vulnerable students.
According to the association, the initiative will target pupils and students at nursery, primary, secondary and tertiary levels of education. Priority will be given to talented learners, orphans and students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds who face challenges in meeting education costs.
NETA said the programme is designed to uplift less privileged learners by making education more affordable while ensuring that talented students are not forced to abandon their studies due to financial constraints.

The association outlined several objectives for the scholarship and bursary scheme, including enabling beneficiaries to complete all levels of education, providing psychosocial support and creating pathways for internships, industrial training and future employment. The initiative will also extend to broader community interventions such as charity work, civic improvement, health promotion and education advocacy.
“As NETA, we believe our first core responsibility to the business community and our stakeholders is to identify their needs and come up with viable solutions,” said Thadeus Nagenda, the President of NETA Uganda.
“We shall also provide scholastic materials to eligible students who meet our selection criteria to ensure they have the tools needed to succeed.”

The association says the scholarship initiative reflects its commitment to social responsibility and long term national development by investing in education as a foundation for economic growth and entrepreneurship.
Further details regarding application procedures and eligibility requirements are expected to be communicated in the coming months.
