The Auto Show Kampala 2026 edition has officially been launched at the headquarters of the Ministry of Works and Transport in Kampala, with organizers and government officials placing major emphasis on road safety and vehicle inspection as key pillars for safer mobility in Uganda.
The launch event brought together ministry officials, automotive industry leaders, development partners, exhibitors, and members of the media. Discussions during the event highlighted the importance of using the auto show platform not only to showcase automotive innovation and excellence but also to strengthen public awareness and action around responsible transport and road safety.
Speaking during the launch, Winston Katushabe, the Commissioner for Transport Regulation and Safety at the Ministry of Works and Transport, stressed the urgency of prioritizing vehicle roadworthiness as a critical component in reducing road accidents and improving transport safety standards.

“Road safety begins with the condition of the vehicle. That is why we are placing strong emphasis on vehicle inspection as the first and last critical step in ensuring safety on our roads. A roadworthy vehicle is not optional but a responsibility,” Katushabe said.
He further noted that the ministry’s partnership with Auto Show Kampala creates an important opportunity to engage the public, private sector players, and other stakeholders on the importance of safety compliance and responsible mobility.
“We are proud to partner with Auto Show Kampala because it provides a unique platform to engage the public, the private sector, and other stakeholders on the importance of safety compliance and responsible mobility,” he added.
The 2026 edition of the Auto Show is expected to be larger and more interactive, according to organizers, with plans to create a more immersive and inclusive platform for all players within Uganda’s automotive ecosystem.
Allen Ssempa, the Strategic Partnerships Lead at Auto Show Kampala, said this year’s event aims to go beyond vehicle exhibitions by contributing to conversations shaping the future of mobility in Uganda.
“This year we are growing in size as well as purpose. We are creating a more immersive and inclusive platform that brings together every player in the automotive ecosystem,” Ssempa said.
“Partnering with the Ministry of Works and Transport on the road safety agenda gives this year’s show real depth beyond showcasing vehicles. It is about shaping the future of mobility in Uganda responsibly,” he added.
The Auto Show Kampala 2026 edition is expected to attract leading automotive brands, dealers, innovators, regulators, and enthusiasts from across the country. The event will feature exhibitions, panel discussions, live demonstrations, networking opportunities, and consumer engagement activities focused on transport safety and innovation.

Organizers say the event aligns closely with the ministry’s ongoing efforts to strengthen vehicle inspection systems and promote a culture of safety throughout Uganda’s transport sector. Through activations, exhibitions, and stakeholder engagements, the show will also highlight advancements in vehicle safety technologies, compliance standards, and best practices for individual motorists and fleet operators.
Industry stakeholders believe the show will play a significant role in advancing public awareness while reinforcing the commitment of both government and private sector players toward building safer roads and a more responsible transport system in Uganda.
