The Muljibhai Madhvani Foundation committed 750 million Uganda Shillings to its annual university scholarship program for the 2025/2026 academic year supporting bright Ugandan students. Rooted in the Foundation’s broader mission to improve the welfare of Ugandans through education, this competitive scholarship scheme provides financial support to both undergraduate and postgraduate students enrolled in recognized Ugandan universities.
Established in the 2005/2006 academic year, the Madhvani Foundation University Scholarship Programme has since become a lifeline for hundreds of students pursuing studies in critical fields for national development. The program is governed by a dedicated Scholarship Committee under the Board of Trustees, which upholds a transparent, merit-based selection process to ensure fairness and national equity.

How Are Students Selected? Key Selection Criteria
Applicants are evaluated on the basis of academic excellence, financial need, and character. The following considerations are part of the selection process:
Academic Records: High CGPA or degree classification and strong academic references.
Financial Status: Assessment of the applicant’s and their family’s financial situation.
Age and Conduct: Personal integrity and responsible behavior are key attributes.
Special Considerations: In cases of equal qualification, factors such as gender balance, regional representation, and disability status may influence final decisions.
Postgraduate Advantage: Applicants with relevant work experience have an added advantage.
The Foundation reserves full discretion in verifying documents and information. Any form of canvassing will result in immediate disqualification.
Scholarship Coverage and Terms
Undergraduate Students: The scholarship covers tuition fees only, from second year to completion.
Postgraduate Students: Tuition is covered for the entire duration of the program from the time of award.
The funds are disbursed directly to the student’s university or institution as a grant. Renewal of the scholarship is conditional on satisfactory academic progress, verified through official progress reports. If a beneficiary retakes more than one subject, the scholarship will be terminated.
Though not a legally binding contract, the Foundation expects awardees to contribute back—voluntarily—after graduation to support future scholars.
