As schools across the nation swing open their gates for Term One, thousands of Ugandan parents are breathing a sigh of relief, thanks to dfcu Bank’s timely intervention in what has traditionally been one of the most financially stressful periods for families.

The bank has launched “School Fiiz! Weight Off!”  a comprehensive three-month campaign designed to ease the crushing burden of school fees while simultaneously strengthening the financial backbone of education institutions nationwide.

“We understand that school fees season can feel overwhelming,” said Bryan Katamba, Head of Education and Health Sector at dfcu Bank. “This campaign is about providing real, practical relief when families and schools need it most.”

More Than Just Payments

The initiative goes far beyond simple fee collection. Parents can now pay school fees through multiple convenient channels, including the dfcu QuickApp, USSD *240#, dfcu Agents, branches, and partner platforms like SchoolPay, SurePay, and PegPay.

But here’s where it gets interesting: dfcu is also extending flexible credit solutions to help families bridge the gap. Parents can access unsecured personal loans of up to UGX 400 million, quick Mobi-Loans of up to UGX 5 million, while school owners can secure financing up to UGX 500 million to manage term-opening expenses.

Everyone Wins

The campaign includes attractive incentives that have already generated buzz among parents and school administrators:

  • For Parents: Every week, 15 parents will win cash rewards of up to UGX 500,000 simply for paying school fees through dfcu or taking up loans during the campaign period. That’s 195 winners over three months.
  • For Schools: Educational institutions that increase their fee collections through dfcu by at least 20 percent, or take up a bancassurance policy, stand to win a Library Stock-Up worth UGX 5 million – a boost that directly benefits students.

The campaign also incorporates comprehensive insurance coverage for schools, protecting property, vehicles, students, staff, and third-party liabilities as institutions resume full operations.

A Partner in Education

With the “School Fiiz! Weight Off!” campaign, dfcu Bank is positioning itself not merely as a financial service provider, but as a committed partner in Uganda’s education ecosystem – one that understands the seasonal pressures families face and responds with solutions that matter.

For parents dreading that school fees reminder, and schools worried about operational cash flow, this campaign couldn’t have come at a better time.
