The Global Centre for Climate Mobility (GCCM) has launched the Climate Mobility Fellowship (CMF) 2025–2026, an initiative aimed at equipping young leaders with the skills, networks, and expertise to drive impactful solutions in climate mobility. The year-long fellowship will support 12 outstanding youth leaders from Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Pacific, including four from Pacific Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
With the growing impact of climate change on human migration and displacement, the CMF aims to empower youth to shape climate mobility policies through training, research, and participation in global policy discussions.
A Transformational Fellowship Experience
The CMF 2025–2026 is designed to provide fellows with academic training, hands-on project experience, and direct engagement in key international climate processes. The program includes formal learning, practical experience, global policy engagement, and impact-driven projects.
Fellows will first participate in an intensive two-week in-person training, focusing on climate mobility governance, followed by a virtual learning phase that builds skills in advocacy, communications, and project development. Participants will also integrate into ongoing GCCM programs, gaining experience in policy research, data analysis, strategic communications, and public advocacy.
As part of the program, fellows will have access to major climate policy events, including the UN Oceans Conference, Berlin Climate Mobility Forum, UN High-Level Week, and COP30. These events will provide networking opportunities with global decision-makers, allowing fellows to contribute to shaping international climate mobility strategies.
Over the course of the fellowship, each participant will design and implement a Climate Mobility Impact Project focused on a local or regional climate mobility challenge. These projects will either propose new solutions or enhance existing initiatives to drive real change in affected communities.
Who Can Apply?
Applicants must be between 18 and 30 years old at the time of application and fluent in English. They must also be based in or nationals of Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, or the Pacific. The fellowship provides a stipend to support participants throughout the program.
