As the back-to-school season reaches its peak, Airtel Uganda’s Airtel Money service continues to ease the financial burden for parents and guardians, with its Pay and Win campaign rewarding over 400 lucky winners to date.

The initiative, which has been running since January 27, 2025, highlights the company’s dedication to promoting financial inclusion and providing convenient solutions during a critical time of the year for Ugandan families.

The Back-to-School Pay and Win campaign has distributed more than Sh40 million to parents and guardians who pay school fees using Airtel Money, with each winner receiving Sh100,000 directly into their Airtel Money wallet.

For many Ugandans, paying school fees is a stressful and time-consuming task that often involves long lines at school administration offices, limited operating hours, and the inconvenience of physical cash transactions.

Airtel Uganda, through its Airtel Money service, has sought to address these challenges by offering a faster, secure, and more efficient method of payment that can be done anytime, anywhere. The Pay and Win campaign has not only provided parents with an easy and immediate way to pay fees, but also incentivized them with a chance to win cash rewards for embracing digital payments.

The structure of the campaign is simple and user-friendly. To participate, parents and guardians only need to dial 1856# on their mobile phones, input their child’s school code, and complete the payment. Each transaction made via Airtel Money enters the customer into a weekly draw, with winners randomly selected and rewarded with Sh100,000.

Real-Life Winners Share Their Stories

For many of the winners, the campaign has provided much-needed financial relief. Sulaina Kulabako, a market vendor from Entebbe, shared her story after winning Sh100,000.

She explained how she was initially skeptical when she first received a call informing her of her win: “I was very happy and excited, but at first, I thought it was a scam. I finally realized that it was real and was very happy to have won. I had paid my child’s school fees by dialing 1856#, entering my child’s school code, and completing the transaction.A few hours later, I received a call confirming that I had won. Thank you so much, Airtel! I encourage everyone else to pay school fees with Airtel Money for a chance to win as well.”

Other winners have similarly expressed their gratitude, with many praising the campaign for making school fee payments easier and less stressful. With Airtel Money’s mobile payment solution, users do not need to stand in long queues or deal with the uncertainty of cash-based transactions. They can simply complete the payment in a few simple steps and get on with their day.

Airtel’s Commitment to Financial Inclusion

Hope Ekudu, the Head of Airtel Money Operations at Airtel Uganda, emphasized the importance of the Pay and Win campaign in driving the company’s broader mission of financial inclusion. She explained that Airtel Money is committed to offering secure, fast, and convenient mobile payment options for Ugandans, especially during times when managing finances can be particularly challenging.

“At Airtel Money, we understand the financial pressures that come with the back-to-school season,” Ekudu said. “Our goal is not only to provide parents with a fast, secure, and convenient way to pay school fees but also to reward them for embracing digital payments. The overwhelming response to this campaign shows that more Ugandans are recognizing the benefits of mobile money. As we reward the last group of winners, we remain committed to making financial transactions easier, more rewarding, and accessible to all.”

How to Participate: Last Chance to Win

With the final phase of the campaign set to conclude in just a few days, parents and guardians still have the opportunity to win Sh100,000. To enter, they need only to pay their child’s school fees via Airtel Money. The process is simple: dial *185#, select option 6 (Pay Fees), enter the school code for their child, and complete the payment.

Each transaction automatically enters participants into the weekly draw. Airtel Money has been rewarding winners every week throughout the campaign, and the final batch of winners will be announced on February 28, 2025. Winners are selected randomly, ensuring fairness and equal chances for all Airtel Money users who complete their school fees payments.

The Airtel Money Back-to-School Pay and Win campaign is part of a larger effort by Airtel Uganda to drive the digital transformation of Uganda’s financial services industry. Mobile money continues to play a key role in shaping Uganda’s financial landscape, offering millions of people an alternative to traditional banking and helping individuals and businesses alike manage their finances more easily.
